Descaling your Professional or MIDI clothes steamer

why descale?

Descaling is important because over time, lime and mineral deposits, such as calcium and magnesium, build up in the steamer. This reduces steam power and can eventually damage your appliance. Regular descaling keeps your steamer efficient and extends its life.

how to descale?

To descale your garment steamer, start by removing the water tank, steam hose and rod. Next, fill the base with a mixture of descaling liquid or a solution of white vinegar and water (1:1). Let this soak for five minutes and gently tilt the steamer back and forth to loosen the limescale residue. Empty the steamer over a sink, bathtub or shower.

On the Professional steamer, you unscrew the drain spout, next to the power button, to drain the water. On the MIDI steamer, the drain is at the bottom of the unit (in the middle). Repeat the process and rinse the steamer several times until the water is clear and no lime particles are visible.

how often to descale?

Descale your steamer every 20 water tanks or about once every 3-6 months, depending on how often you use it and the hardness of the water in your area.

Descale your vertical steamer once in a while for optimal steam results.

Lime Protection Professional Clothes Dryer

Besides the beautiful design, our luxury vertical garment steamers: the MIDI and the Professional steamer, are specially designed with ease of use, efficiency and longevity in mind. Thanks to our innovative CleanSteam technology, you can just safely use tap water in the device. However, you will need to descale the device slightly more often than when using filtered water.

The inside of the steamer is treated with a special coating to prevent limescale. However, we recommend descaling the device at least once every six months to rinse the inside of the device completely clean. If you really don't want to descale, you can use distilled water instead of tap water.
