How do I steam my curtains after washing them?

Hoe stoom ik mijn gordijnen na een wasbeurt? - STEAMRS

How can I steam curtains myself after washing them?

A common frustration: washing curtains. Taking curtains down is often quite a chore, let alone washing and ironing them. Remove wrinkles and unpleasant odors in no time with a handheld steamer. Plug it in, let the steamer heat up for 20/25 seconds, fill the water tank, and start steaming!

How often should I freshen up my curtains?

It's recommended that you freshen up your curtains once a year. Since you only need to do it once a year, it can be helpful to choose a set time for it. For example, after the holidays or in spring during your spring cleaning. That way, you'll remember  when your curtains need to be washed or steamed.

How do I wash my curtains?

We completely understand that you're dreading the huge ironing job afterward. How great would it be to take your curtains out of the washing machine wrinkle-free? These 5 tips will get you pretty close to wrinkle-free curtains:

1. Read the care label

Curtains are often expensive, so it would be a shame to ruin them by washing them on your regular cycle. Remove the curtain hooks if necessary and read the care label. If the labels are no longer attached to your curtains, wash them at 30 degrees to be on the safe side. That way, you can be sure they won't come out of the washing machine four times smaller.

2. Use mild detergents

Fill the washing machine to about a third of its maximum capacity. This gives your curtains more room to move, helping you avoid unnecessary creases. Use a small amount of detergent and fabric softener, and always choose the mildest option. This will help prevent the fabric from getting damaged!

3. Use the dryer on a short cycle

Spinning often damages the fibers and fabric and causes most of the creases during the washing process. Try to avoid it. To keep curtains wrinkle-free, use a spin speed of no more than 600 rpm. Do you have curtains made of a thin fabric? Then turn the spin cycle off completely.

4. Hang curtains up while wet

If you don't spin your curtains, they'll come out of the washing machine soaking wet. Don't be alarmed; that's exactly the point. Carefully take the curtains out of the washing machine and hang them back up right away. Remember to hang them in their pleats first and place a bucket underneath so they can drip dry. The weight of the water pulls the fabric taut, preventing creases. Tip: open a door or window to help the water evaporate.

5. Use a steamer to remove creases

As a final step, we recommend using a handheld steamer to easily remove creases from your curtains.

How do I steam my curtains?

If your curtain has stains or unpleasant odors, then steaming your curtains can be a great option. This technique works best for thick curtains and curtains made from natural fabric. You can easily do the job yourself with this handy, stylish steamer.
The hot steam kills 99% of all bacteria, removing unpleasant smells and odors. A steamer freshens up the fabric and removes any remaining creases!

1. Use a steamer

Fill the water tank, plug the steamer in, and let it heat up. Once the appliance is ready to use, press the steam button several times in a row to get the steaming process going. It can sometimes take a little while for the process to get fully underway, and a few droplets of water may come out of the appliance at first. Press the steam plate against the curtain and press the steam button. Slowly move the appliance down the curtain from top to bottom to easily remove all the creases and freshen up the fabric!
